Al-Wasilah Student Publication

Al-Wasilah is an AS Papers publication, which aims to enlighten and evoke thought and discussion among the Muslim community. We aspire to critically analyze the diverse human response to Islam and the full range of perspectives that develop as a result, as well as to cover and shed light on issues relevant to our community. We invite non-Muslims to discover Islam in the context of politics, social issues and the arts.

American-Romanian Student Association (AROSA)

Create a close group of networking. Facilitate Romanian traditions, dances, study groups and enjoyment. We focus on keeping close to the homeland news and activities, and educate others about the Romanian culture. Also, I want to create an environment where long lasting relationships and connections can be made.

Arab Cultural Student Association (ACSA) strives to increase student awareness of Arab culture on the UC Davis campus. There is a large Arab student population at UC Davis and prior to this student organization, the campus lacked a cultural representation for the community. Through programs and events, we aim to provide a space for students to experience and learn about Arab culture and tradition.




Armenian Students Association at UC Davis (ASA UCD)

The Armenian Student Association at University of California, Davis provides an opportunity for the currently enrolled students at UC Davis of various fields to network, facilitates mentorship, and serves as a forum through which students can make use of their field specific skills to promote academic as well as professional development. This shall be done by means of participation in events that increase awareness of American culture, communities, and issues. The organization shall focus on encouraging the initiative and leadership of the currently enrolled students at UC Davis to develop and realize said events. The organization is designed to provide for student development with an American flavor.

Asian Pacific Islander Queers http://www.apiqdavis.org/

APIQ is a support group for individuals who identify as both API (Asian Pacific Islander) and LGBTQQI. We hold discussion meetings to talk about unique and pertinent issues that APIQs face. We also hold socials, open sessions, workshops, awareness weeks, and other events to enrich and educate the UC Davis campus and community. Ultimately, APIQ's ongoing goal is to provide a supportive family for API Queers and to foster a more accepting environment by increasing public awareness.




Black Intellectuals Graduating (BIG)

To plan and organize events leading up to African/African American graduation which celebrates the culmination of graduating seniors that identify with the African/African- American Diaspora. The organization is focused on the retention of students specifically graduating seniors in the African-American community. We work in collaboration with other retention based campus organizations

The purpose of this organization is to explore and share the Cambodian culture(s), provide community service, and act as a source of social networking for the Cambodian students and those interested.

Provide academic and moral support for our members. We achieve this through many social activities, arranging study groups, and providing exam files for different science and engineering courses. Having a couple of friends that are going through the same experience really helps. Establish and Promote an industry network. CALESS is the perfect means to establish connections with industry. This often leads to internships, co-ops, and permanent employment with high-tech corporations such as Hewlett-Packard, Dow Chemical and IBM.

The purpose of the group is to maintain the culture of Chile in the students and to share our culture with the community at UC Davis.




Chinese Student Association (CSA)

The Chinese Student Association (CSA) is an organization with an emphasis on Chinese students in UC Davis. CSA?s purpose is to help the members enjoy the life in Davis and at the same time give students out of this organization an opportunity to learn more about China and its culture. We will have events that not only promote the club but also to give back to the community. CSA is an organization where students can meet new friends, hang out, and have fun. The purpose of FORCE is to provide a safe space for students to express themselves creatively and empower themselves through various outlets such as music, acting, spoken word, poetry and dance. Giddha at UC Davis

Giddha at UC Davis is an all female folk dance team that is dedicated to representing and sharing the North Indian-Punjabi- culture. Nationally recognized, Giddha at UC Davis is committed to honoring Punjabi tradition, while offering a fun, artistic and innovative outlet for students through folk dance.

Holistic Veterinary Medicine Club (HVMC)

The HVMC is a student chapter of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association (AHVMA). We aim to inform our colleagues in the veterinary school about the different treatment modalities available to them when they begin to practice veterinary medicine. To this end, we organize speakers to talk to veterinary students about the modalities they have used to treat their patients. Some of these modalities include acupuncture, chiropractic, massage, herbal medications, homeopathy, ayurveda, etc.

Faith, was selected both for the African philosophy of community embodied in the principals of Kwanzaa, and because it symbolizes the faith the we as undergraduates and medical students hope to foster within the Oak Park community and the ability of the health care system to address their medical need.

Irish Arts and Culture Club (IACC)

The Irish Arts and Culture Club was founded to celebrate Irish, culture, to preserve and promote traditional arts and to provide an opportunity for UC Davis students and the greater Davis community to experience and enjoy all things Irish, We plan to provide events that will give members and the Davis community a chance to experience the traditional arts and sports of Ireland, as well as social events that will focus on fun, friendship and on building a welcoming community.

Mixed Student Union (MSU) is the only student organization on campus devoted to the mixed race, multi-ethnic, and trans-racial adoptee community. MSU provides a fun, safe comfortable environment for people of the mixed heritage or those who are interested. We discuss the growing issues on diversity and mixed heritage and explore areas for racial, ethnic and cultural identification, sexuality, media representation and politics, we collaborate with other ethnic student organizations on campus for events to promote mixed heritage awareness. Native American Law Students Association

The Native American Law Students Association is an organization for Native and non- Native law school students interested in legal issues affecting the Native American community on a local, State and National level. California has a large and diverse Native population with a rich cultural history. However, Native representation in the Nations law schools, Davis included, is disproportionately low. NALSA?s goal will be to work towards a greater understanding of those legal issues which directly affect Natives both on reservation and off and to work with the Undergraduate Native Students to advance their desire to attend law school.

Raas Garba Team at UCD

Our Raas Team is committed to promoting awareness of South Asian culture through the traditional folk dancer known as Raas and Garba. We strive to establish our self as an elite competitive team on the national stage, as well as to bring the heart of one of India's traditional dances to local audiences.




Represent

The purpose of Represent is to represent LGBTQQIA culture at UC Davis by bringing UC Davis students, graduates and alumni together to dance. Everyone is encouraged to come and be part of our club/team. All dance skill levels are welcome, and beginners encouraged. We will strive to bring in different choreographers from different styles to teach members so we can develop our own unique dance style. After developing the team and determining our direction, performances will be considered.







Right Women

Right Women is a group driven by intellectual curiosity and committed to the advancement of women and their issues in mainstream politics and in all areas in life. We aim to shed light on the rich history of the Republican Party’s relationship to the women’s movement and advocate for women in our communities on both a partisan and non-partisan basis. We think progressively about the way politics should be while maintaining our core values and are dedicated to helping women get elected to public office.

Spanish Club

The Spanish club is here to promote knowledge of the Spanish language and an understanding of the many different cultures of the numerous Spanish speaking countries throughout the world. We aim to broaden one’s perception of the world through the use of movies, traditional foods and regular conversations nights and variety of other social activities.

Steampunk Society

The Steampunk Society is a fusion of art, history and science: a place where ideas from diverse fields converge. We look to history for inspiration and the wisdom to meet the challenges of our world. Building on the style, natural philosophy and social traditions of the French and Scottish Enlightenment, we endeavor to revolutionize the approach to practical and aesthetic problems faced in everyday experience.

Students for Justice in Palestine is a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and community members at UC Davis that is organized on democratic principles in a effort to promote justice, human rights, liberation and self-determination for the Palestinian people.

Our goal, as TSA at UC Davis, is to form a closer bond between students/staff here at UC Davis, present/promote the Turkish culture, art, and history to the American People as well the diverse population of the United States, and guide the new Turkish students and staff arriving at Davis to make the transition a little more smooth.

Vent Magazine is a project dedicated to showcasing the opinions of Asian American youth. Its creators are proactive students with goals to make positive change through raw and honest dialogue. What makes Vent different is that we seek writing from the heart, uncovering an honest illustration of Asian American identity, politics, and talent.

Our mission is to promote cancer awareness, knowledge, and preventative care in the Vietnamese community, in addition to providing opportunities for members interested in the health field to gain clinical experiences.




Vietnamese Student Association (VSA)

The goal of this organization is to preserve the teach and Vietnamese culture within the Davis community by providing an open, fun and positive environment to prospective and official members. Along with this goal, we aim to help out Vietnamese brothers and sisters both in America and in Vietnam through fund-raisers and charity work. VSA strives to promote awareness and appreciation of the Vietnamese culture through culturally socially and academically sensitive events. We aim to provide a safe and welcoming environment for all our members to network.
