Aggies Serving

The aims of Aggies Serving “Future for the Youth” are to educate members on youth life and opportunity in Ghana whilst planning lesson plans and activities for the youth served in the community with which this organization is affiliated. By working hand in hand with the Ghanian registered NGO “Future for the Youth” and Indiana University’s “Social Work Student Organization,” members of Aggies Serving “Future for the Youth” will implement various planned activities for the youth of the rural village which some of the members have visited through UCD and will make a sustainable impact on the social lives of the children of this village.

The group serves as the campus arm of the new non-profit organization Americans for a Healthier World. We hope to promote recruitment and awareness for issues of global inequality, proper resource and environmentally sound industry.

The American Red Cross Club offers its members many opportunities to volunteer throughout the community and takes part in a variety of service and educational events on and off campus. In addition, the club provides First Aid, CPR, and AED training for it's mambers and collaborates with the Yolo County Red Cross Chapter to inform community members about disaster preparedness.




An O.A.K.S Mentoring Project

The Acorn Mentoring Project is a service group that brings UC Davis students together with youth ages 5-15 in under-resourced neighborhoods of Sacramento. Members serve as mentors to the youth through an after-school program on Tuesday afternoons. Mentoring activities include games, arts and crafts, tutoring, and one-on-one projects. We provide safe and constructive environment for youth who would otherwise not be able to participate in extracurricular activities. The program is completely free for the children.

Athletes in Action at the UC Davis campus is a Christian fellowship specifically oriented towards athletes and the athletically minded. We meet weekly to worship fellowship and grow in our faith in the Lord. Weekly meetings are held Wednesdays at 8:00pm in Young 198. We also have weekly bible studies for both men and women. The purpose of Athletes in Action is to help members grow in their relationship with Christ and be a light for God on campus or on the athletic field. Promote awareness and education of autism spectrum and other neurodevelopmental disorders. Involve UC Davis students in learning about such disorders, gain insight into research in this area, and participate in outreach events.

Be a Hero, Become a Donor is an organization originally founded in Southern California. With the support of the organization, we would have formed a branch of be a Hero, Become a Donor at UC Davis. Be a Hero, Become a Donor (Nor Cal) has already been established and our two groups will work in conjunction with one another. The purpose of our club is to educate and bring awareness to students and the Davis community regarding the need for donation in all capacities. Be A Hero, Become a Donor, is a supported recognized by national organizations.

To serve as a resource for the Black community on campus. This will be done through collaboration with other organizations, mentorship programs, fundraising, networking, communication through our meetings, planning events and community service. Also, to serve as a club in our community that is welcoming to any student at any level of involvement with the goals of increasing involvement, retaining students and bettering the college experiences of students.

Camp Kesem provides a free, week long summer camp for kids whose parents have or have had cancer. Camp Kesem empowers a generation of student-leaders at colleges across America by allowing allow college students to channel their passion for making a difference. Each of our camps is organized and operated by a talented group of student-leaders who develop critical leadership skills and a passion for long term social impact

Founded in 2007, the Campus Rotaract Club of Davis (CRC Davis) is a community service club with a professional development emphasis at UC Davis. Our goal is to mobilize students to do service to humanity, while improving their their own leadership and professionals skills through workshops, committees, and events. Members of the CRC Davis, or Rotaractors, serve both the local and international community through service events and charity fundraisers. Cancer Awareness and Charity Society (CACS)

The purpose of CACS is to raise cancer awareness via charity events such as benefit dinners, concerts, cancer walks, and other various events. Our goal is to take all the money we raise and donate it to one of the cancer centers in the greater Sacramento/Davis area.

CARE-TO-CURE is aimed at fighting against childhood cancer. CARE-TO-CURE raises funds for children afflicted by cancer, spreads community and campus awareness, and brings hope to these children and their families. We organize fund- raisers, campus events, and create personal relationships with these children and their families by visiting them at different facilities.

Circle K is the largest collegiate community service organization that provides opportunities for students to become involved on their campuses and communities by serving people in need. Members have the chance to work with fellow students, members of the community, and children or adults in special programs.




Colleges Against Cancer: CAC http://www.cancer.org

Colleges Against Cancer is a program designed to help eliminate cancer by initiating and supporting the programs of the American Cancer Society on college campuses. It is a program designed by the college students across the country and is supported by the American Cancer Society. The program is designed to allow students and staff to work through many different channels to eliminate cancer. These channels are our strategic directions- Advocacy, Cancer Education, Relay For Life, and Survivorship. Local chapters work alongside their local offices and national leadership to support the efforts of the American Cancer Society in these directions.

The purpose of this group is to allow former 4-Hers and those interested in the 4-H program to continue their 4-H involvement by providing support to the California 4-H Youth Development program and an opportunity for socializing.




Davis Outreach (DO)

Davis Outreach provides assistance to high school students in their quest for higher education. Our goals include educating high school students about the college admissions process and promoting college awareness among underserved youths in various communities, while helping to motivated students to further excel in their academic endeavors.




Dental Relief Project at UC Davi

Many of our own residents in the area do not have access to the proper materials such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss and other basic oral hygiene needs. We have decided to form a club here on campus focused on bringing these supplies from the goodwill of the community to those less fortunate and wanting these basic tools of oral hygiene. At the Dental Relief Project at UC Davis we are committee to gathering these necessary medical supplies for these underprivileged and impoverished residents. We feel dedicated to distributing these supplies to organizations such as American Coalition of Concerned Medical Professionals, a non-profit organization committed to ensuring others wellbeing.




Diabetes Advocacy & Awareness Group (DAAG)

The Diabetes Advocacy & Awareness group consists of UC Davis students united in combating diabetes, which is one of the fastest growing diseases around the world. Members take an active role in spreading knowledge and awareness of the global epidemic, fundraising for research and relief programs, educating youth and fostering healthy lifestyles, serving under-resourced populations and ensuring that those in need receive proper care, and working to lower diabetes incidence worldwide and ultimate find a cure.

Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children’s goal is to provide access to medical care for the millions of underprivileged and medically underserved children and the world. We are striving to raise funds to support the construction of pediatric clinics in areas currently lacking a reliable source for healthcare. Also, we hope to raise funds to encourage and support individuals who want to travel to medically underserved areas of the world to directly make a positive influence the health of children. The medical volunteers will have the opportunity work together with physicians to deliver acute care as needed. This can be a great opportunity to gain more insight in medicine and provide aid to the underserved.




Global Medical Brigades

Global Brigades objective is to provide each of its community partners with a multi- disciplinary approach to sustainable development. It is our belief that it is not enough to just conduct a one-off health or development project in a community, but to have a constant presence and provide multi-disciplinary service that address the many systemic challenges that perpetuate poverty. Given this, Global Medical Brigades will conduct at least one Brigade in Honduras per year offering medication and hygiene supplies to the natives.

Joan Viteri Memorial Clinic is a student run clinic that targets intravenous drug users and sex workers in Sacramento. The primary goal of JVMC is to serve the health care needs of uninsured drug users, sex workers and their families. This includes helping them address their addiction issues according to the principles of harm reduction. We seek to provide basic medical care and health care education in a non-judgmental and easily accessible manner.




King Hall Civil Rights Outreach Project (King Hall CROP)

The King Hall Civil Rights Outreach Project (King Hall CROP) aims to bring legal services to local, low income and underserved AMEMSA (Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim and South Asian) communities by hosting rotating free legal clinics and town hall discussions. King Hall CROP will work collaboratively with the Asian Law Caucus and the Civil Rights Outreach Project umbrella organization to reach out to non-English speaking and economically disadvantaged individuals within the local impacted communities. It will assist these communities with their legal needs, educate them about their legal rights, and empower them to advocate on their own behalf.




Love a Child

The organization Love A Child aims to improve the educational environment of children living in remote areas in China. It serves the community by raising social awareness about children in China and encouraging students to participate in various events to help those in need. After the devastating earthquake in Yushu, China, we have noticed many serious social issues that have emerged from the disaster. Among them, issues regarding children receive the most attention from the media. Many children died in the earthquake, because they were the last on the list to be rescued. Children everywhere else in China are also experiencing unfair treatments and inadequate attention. The most fundamental problem that causes such unfair treatments of children, or even corrupted social conditions on a larger scale is education.

The MBA Challenge for Charity is an organization that draws on the talents, energy, and resource of MBAs to support Special Olympics and the Boys and Girls Club. Nourish International is a student organization that joins like- minded individuals who want to be part of the solution to global poverty. Our mission is to eradicated poverty by engaging students and empowering communities. During the school year, we put on fundraisers aimed to raising money and increasing awareness about issues of global poverty. With the money that we raise, we invest in international development projects. During the summer, students travel abroad to partner with local communities in developing countries to implement these development projects. Students also conduct research on issues related to global poverty, such as agricultural development, food security, education, economic empowerment.

Studio 301 provides an opportunity for hands-on artistic and administrative experience, while supplementing the education of creative arts students in professional, respectful and safe environment. Studio 301 serves as both a drama club as well as a production company that puts on high quality performances. We select plays that are different genres than what the theatre department at UC Davis offers any given year. This gives the student body an opportunity to learn about and work on shows that they aren’t able to do through the department, as directors, actors, stage managers, designers and technicians.

The intention of United Students for Veterans' Health is to improve the quality of life of resident veterans of Sacramento area Veterans' hospitals.




Water Safety Council

To promote safe practices while on the water and provide resources to ensure students' safety while partaking in water sports and activities. Educate the UC Davis student body about safe sex, the dangers of drug use, and emergency procedures to follow while on the water. Improve relations between law enforcement officers and students during weekends of high student and boating traffic on Lake Shasta. We will be putting on several events to achieve this purpose including: 1. Police Relations and Water Safety Council co-sponsored event on the Quad to promote responsible and good relations between law enforcement and students during events in which they often come in contact such as Spring/Summer water events and sports. 2. Jaws Movie Screening - May 12, 2010 3. Sun Safety Promotion and Education at the UCD Recreation Pool - May 15, 2010: Hand out sunscreen and educate students swimming and sun bathing at the recreational pool about the importance of sun protection and safety, especially when partaking in water activities. 4. Water Safety Educational Forum - May 24, 2010: Includes information on safe sex practices presented by the Gender and Sexuality Commission, a guest speaker Emergency Medical Technician to teach about emergency procedures (CPR, correctly bandaging cuts, etc.), and information on the dangers of drug use especially on the water. A precursor to the "Houseboats" weekend to warn and educate about the dangers that occur. 5. Safeboats - May 29-31, 2010: The council will coordinate, organize, and fund a 'Safeboat' to be present on Lake Shasta during the "Houseboating" weekend to provide resources including water, food, condoms, and sunscreen, volunteer services, and EMT services to the students partaking in the houseboating weekend.




Willow Clinic

The mission of the Willow Clinic is to improve the health and well- being of the homeless population of Sacramento by helping to meet the psychiatric and medical care needs of this underserved population, as well as to provide a unique platform of medical & undergraduate student’s education.




Youth Empowerment Program (Y.E.P)

The Youth Empowerment Project (Y.E.P) is a brand new initiative whose purpose is to empower and support undocumented immigrant youth detained at Yolo County Juvenile Hall in Woodland, CA by connecting them to students at the University of California, Davis. The UCD students meetings with the youth will have the unique opportunity to support these young people who are going through unimaginable life strain. We will do this through intercultural exchange, leadership development and bond building. Our goal is to make the detainment process more bearable, bring light and energy into a dark situation, and provide them a connection to the outside world.
