Afterglow A Cappella

We are currently UC Davis only all male a cappella group. We hope to bring a cappella music to the Davis community and increase the reputation of the UC Davis a cappella scene in as many venues as possible.




Bakuhatsu Taiko Dan http://bakuhatsutaikodan.com

Taiko is the Japanese are of drumming. Bakuhatsu Taiko Dan performs at multiple ethnic events on and off campus. This unique art form teaches the fundamentals of good form (kata) and how to channel your energy (ki) while incorporating choreography and rhythm.




Bass Fishing Club

The purpose of this club is to bring people together who share the common interest of competitive Bass fishing, We would like to bring people together in other to promote sharing and growing of knowledge of the sport of Bass Fishing.




Billiards Club at UC Davis

The purpose of this group is to assemble college students interested in billiards. We want a strong group of people who can further each other's skills in the sport. To bring together students interested in billiards in general.




Birdstrike Theater

Being the only sketch and long-form improvisational troupe on the campus, we serve two purposes. First to provide an outlet for students who desire to express themselves in a comical manner and second to provide an inexpensive form of entertainment for all in the Davis area. Birdstrike Theater performs two free shows a quarter and one two hour long sketch/improve show. We have performed at UC Berkley with our sister troupe Jericho and we have preformed for the past three years at USC’s collegiate improvisation festival known as FRACAS.

Then the Book Club at UCD is the club for you! Join us to read the books YOU want to read. We're a casual club for students of all majors with no roll-call or attendance required. Pedants beware: we're not trying to impress anyone! Remember to bring an open mind and some book suggestions (if you have any), along with a synopsis of each, to the next meeting! Breakdance Club

This group is meant to give break dancers a place to come together and practice. Its for both experienced and novice dancers to meet and teach each other their specialties in this style dance. This group is also intended to do performance for local events.




Broken Ground (BG)

We want to be the first multicultural dance group on the UC Davis campus. We strive to bring people together from all walks of life in order to share our passion for dance.




Chinese Dance and Arts Club (CDAC)

CDAC strives to educate the diverse audiences within the Davis community through Chinese Dance and other performing arts. We wish to offer a fun, innovative and artistic environment for everyone who loves to dance and learn about the richness of Chinese cultural.

OUR MISSION: To love all humanity, to serve Our Lord, and to learn in order to follow in His footsteps. We are passionate young individuals who desire to learn about ourselves in and out of our faith as well as giving back to our community.




Comedy and Consciousness We are a comedy group that seeks to foster talent and leadership in the comedy profession. We also desire to showcase local comedians and artists that are doing positive work in the community with their talent. We look to bring comedians who specifically raise awareness around social justice issues with their work as well as highlight these professionals as a way to bring visibility to positive role models in this profession.




Cooking Club (CC)

To encourage awareness in diverse cultural foods, to foster indulgement in sweet joys of cooking, to promote an acute gustatory sense, to inspire others to actively cook for themselves, and to develop a friendly community and network with others who share a passion in the culinary arts.




Davis American Sign Language Club

Whether it is undergraduates, graduates, staff or faculty, this organization aims to promote connections between the deaf, hard of hearing, children of deaf adults, and allies who are interested in working with deaf and hard of hearing people and understand our common causes and purpose.

Davis Culchies Hurling

The purpose of the Hurling Club is to learn about and play the ancient Irish sport of Hurling against other schools and teams. The club will promote and try to garner support for the sport, teach people who want to learn how to play, and will compete other teams.

Ever member will be educated on good seamanship and race-sailing so that they can sail at high quality level on or off the race course. Davis Swing Dancers is a place to learn, practice and just dance. We are here to provide a friendly, open atmosphere for dancing, and to teach anyone who wants to learn how to dance. We have free drop-in beginner lessons every week for newcomers and beginners, as well as intermediate series lessons for our dedicated members who wish to grow as dancers. After lessons there is always free, open dancing for anyone and everyone who wishes to dance!

This organization’s purpose is to provide an educational and competitive environment for students to improve their public speaking and logical argumentation skills through public debate.

3D is a multidimensional dance group. We incorporate jazz, salsa, tap, ballet, hip hop and lyrical styles of dance into our pieces. 3D performs at events throughout the year such as basketball games and Picnic Day and organized their first showcase at the Main Theatre in June 2008.

Elite Dance Company is a competitive dance team at UC Davis. We incorporate several styles of dance including Ballet/Pointe, Jazz, Contemporary/Lyrical and tap into our routines. We perform at various UC Davis events throughout the year as well as compete in the biggest dance competition on campus, Davis Dance Revolution (DDR), on Picnic Day. The winter and spring quarters will be dedicated to practicing for DDR as well as choreographing for our first annual Spring showcase




English Club

The English Club unites students with common interests in Literature, Theatre, Poetry, Creative Writing and other related English areas. We provide peer editing sessions, tutoring opportunities, book exchanges, and social events to interact with the community, and also to promote fellowship among students of the English majors and minors.




Entomology Club (Ent Club)

To promote the education and awareness of non-crustacean arthropods as well as to aid in the success of all entomology students. To provide insect related entertainment, go on field trips, get to know fellow entomology students and insect enthusiasts, share in bug collecting and locations of cool bugs, become exposed to wide range of entomology backgrounds from agricultural to forensic entomology, obtain information on job opportunities, get to know the staff, kick back and relax.




Figure Drawing Club at UC Davis

Figure Drawing at UC Davis is a resource for students and non-students alike who wish to gain experience drawing from a live model. These figure drawing sessions will be held every Friday from 2:00-4:00 at Art 331. Participation is free- no fees. Poses range from shorter gesture poses to longer poses that last from 20 to 30 minutes long. No scratchboard or cameras allowed.




Filmmakers Ambitions (FA)

Filmmakers Ambition is a network and club that promotes student filmmaking. FA consists of experienced and non experienced filmmakers and production. FA also collaborates with actors from the Theatre and Dance Department.

Hansori

Hansori is Korean traditional drum performing group. The purpose of our group is to bring and share Korean culture into Davis campus and off-campus in Sacramento area. We also promote close relationship between members of the group by having activities other than practicing and performing.




Journal of International Law and Policy

The Journal of International Law & Policy (JILP) is a biannual journal produced by King Hall students with an interest in international law. The purpose of the Journal is to promote the study authors. In addition to the two published journals per year, JILP also organizes guest lecture events-including an annual symposium-pertaining to the practice of international law.

The UC Davis Journal of Juvenile Law and Policy is a biannual law that covers legal issues affecting juvenile and the family law. The journal includes academic articles by legal scholars, a practitioner’s section, commentary on recent case opinions and statutes, and artistic contributions by children. In addition, the journal organizes a day- long symposium in which nationally recognized academics and practitioners discuss issues in juvenile law.




Law Cappella

The UC Davis School of Law (King Hall) only performance-based group. We have 3-4 performances a year and generally rehearse once a week.

Our goals are to spread knowledge about micro finance and get more student involvement in the micro-lending process.




Mind-Body Student Interest Group at UCDSOM

Promote self-awareness and involvement in keeping ourselves healthy, in the midst of the significant mental stress of being a student, physician, and/or health professional. This is accomplished through activities like meditation, yoga, and Mindfullness-Based Stress Reduction.

Mixed Media Art Club is an ideal place to cultivate your artistic passions, make projects in various common and experimental mediums, and get to know like-minded artists. Whether or not you have a background in art, Mixed Media Art Club is your place to create.

Mock Trial at UC Davis

The purpose of Mock Trial at UC Davis is to create a competitive academic team which will compete as a member of the American Mock Trial Association in regional, state and national events. We will work to understand the legal system within the United States by immersing ourselves in competition and preparation of our given case. Members will hone their oratorical, writing, and debate skills as they develop their arguments and learn legal procedure. Attorney members will learn how to create a legal argument from the ground up working with case material to produce theories, arguments, counter-arguments, and questions. Witness members will heavily assist in case development becoming experts in their assigned testimony. They will use their acting and quick thinking stills to sell their testimony and avert opposing counsels questions. This organizations goal is to excel in competition and emerge a leading competitor within the American Mock Trial Association.

Model United Nations is a social speech and debate club focused around international issues. At weekly meetings we discuss current events, debate international issues, prepare for Model United Nations Conferences across the state.

Orienteering Club at UC Davis

The sport of Orienteering challenges competitors to use a topographical map and compass to locate a series of checkpoints along both urban and rural trails. The purpose of the Orienteering Club at UC Davis is to introduce and excite students about this sport and facilitate the attendance of Orienteering events across Northern California. It provides a space for students to interact with each other and variety of community members to engage in physical activity and critical thinking amidst the beautiful California landscape.




Popping Club at UC Davis

Beginning in the early Funk movement, to being popularized on TV by Michael Jackson and members of the Electric Boogaloos on Soul Train, Popping has been accepted alongside with Break dancing and Locking within the Hip- Hop Culture. 40 years later, here at UC Davis, The Popping Club @ UC Davis provides an session-based environment for active Poppers, freestyles and those interested to get down and continually grow in ways of Popping Carefully orchestrated unofficially since November 2007, Daniel Kwan aka Silky of Tiktaktix/2nd Nature, an experienced battler and popper of 8 years, has been teaching , mentoring and growing a community of Poppers of over a hundred dance students here at UC Davis to official his public profession of this street dance here at UC Davis.

Released Contemporary Dance Company is an up-and –coming dance performance group. Our goal is simple: to bring a focused contemporary dance group to the UC Davis campus. We provide technical training as well as performance opportunities for individuals with substantial dance and performance experience in ballet, jazz, modern and contemporary styles who are interested in perfecting their dancing abilities.




Renaissance Dancers

The Renaissance dancers teach and perform the dances of the Renaissance period, particularly the English county dancers as recorded by John Playford. Aside from Picnic Day, many members often choose to perform in many local California renaissance fair’s, although performance is not required for membership. Practices are held Thursday from 6:30- 9:00pm.

Salsa Adicción

This group's purpose is to provide an encouraging, fun and exciting environment for everyone to learn salsa dancing. Our goal is to meet once a week for either a dance lesson and practice, or for dancing at a salsa club. No partner is needed. Types of dances that may be learned include salsa, merengue, cha cha, and bachata.




SickSpits

SickSpits is a collective of poet activists dedicated to fostering an open forum for discussion and providing UC Davis students with an open and inviting forum to express themselves through their own artistic creativity. Along with teaching writing workshops and performing events throughout the greater Sacramento and Bay area SickSpits holds bi-monthly open mic’s first and third Tuesday of the month open to the greater Davis community.

Smash Crew at UC Davis (SCUCD)

The purpose of Smash Crew at UC Davis is to provide a healthy and supportive environment in which UCD students can meet others who share an interest in the video game Super Smash Bros. We will organize frequent meetings where members can compete and interact with a diverse group of students in a sportsmanlike manner. Additionally, we will hold tournaments that will positively represent UC Davis to the worldwide Smash community and build a reputation for the university as the host of some of the strongest and most well-organized Smash events in the world.
